what is the difference between the toner and cartridge in printer?

please tell me answer. advance thanks for all who try to give the answer

  1. Laser printers use Toner. Inkjets use cartridges
  2. Toner actually refers to the black (or whatever color) powder in the cartridge of the laser printer. It's dry powder. Cartridge, well, could be a toner cartridge (for laser) or an ink cartridge (for inkjet, obviously).
  3. On some printers, ie. "Brother", they have a cartridge which holds a toner. Two separate parts. Like on a Brother printer the cartridge, for instance, is good for like 10,000 prints and the toner is good for only about 2,000. So your machine may be telling you to change the cartridge meaning you have gone through several toners and reached that point.
