are the contents of a toner cartridge hazzardous?

The EPA is on the job site and I would like to know if the contents of the toner cartridges are hazzardous.

Public Comments

  1. not to mild exposure
  2. mildly hazardous if breathed... it shouldn't be harmful to the environment, though As I've heard they make the coloring for the cartridges out of corn starch especially so it would be better for the environment. (not completely sure about that)
  3. They can be hazardous depending on the exposure and you should have an MSDS on site, unless you have very, very few (no more than you have at home). Most dermal exposures can cause dermal abrasion, rashes, and irritation. The reference is one example. Most companies have their sheets on line, so google search for the product name/number and MSDS to find them. This applies to printer cartridges and other high volume office supplies.
