how stop a hp color laserjet 4700n printer from jamming?

- Your printer was not made to print on glossy paper. The printer has little fingers called a "pick-up". This finger will work normal on normal paper because it's not as smooth as the glossy paper. Look at it like this. You have a car that was made to drive on the road. The tires of the car is the "pick-up" and the road is paper. If you change the road to ice (which is really smooth) the car will skid and not grab the surface as it's supposed to. Try another printer designed for photo printing.
- Where and how is it jamming? If it is jamming out of the paper tray, then you may have dirty or worn pickup/feed rollers. Try cleaning them with a warm damp rag. If it is jamming at the fuser, then the fuser will need to be replaced. The non-stick surface is probably worn off and the paper is sticking to the rollers, or, the fuser gears/bushings may be worn down and causing the fuser to drag and cause jams, this is if the paper is getting into the fuser somewhat and is being wrinkled/folded on the input side of the fuser. Other possibilities are that there is a piece of torn paper in the paper path causing a jam. Best of luck.
