Couple questions about HP printers. Do the "photosmart" printers use different quality ink than the B&W/color

cartridges that an "officejet" would use. I've got a brand new officejet and I'm wondering if I should use it to print pictures or should I buy a seperate printer just for pics? Thanks

  1. Well, yes and no. Every printer uses different cartridges. The HP Photosmart printers have a different nozzle set up, but typically the ink is the same as an Officejet. The difference is that the Photosmarts have an option to use an optional black cartridge for photos. This one has more gray tones available, and prints a nice picture. However, I have printed pictures both with and without this cartridge, and quality is just fine if I use the professional photo setting.
