Why will HP photo printer not print pics off of certain devices?

I have an HP photo printer (the little portable ones) and the instruction booklet says you can print pics off of an iPod that stores photos. I have a vid. iPod that has pics on it, and is fully charged and should plug right into the printer. But when I plug it in, it goes to the "do not disconnect" screen and flashes. I've tried restarting it and made sure it's charged, but it continues to show that. I've let it sit for hours, and nothing changes. What do I do?

1. There may be a problem with the cable check it out
2. it might not print pics off of certain devices because it might have been only made to print off of the certain devices when it was made.
3. install the ipod drivers correectly on the computer........ Browse the ipod folder from "my computer" and then give the print command.............when u connect the ipod to the computer ,it actually goes to sleeep mode...u can access the files from the computer it self.........
