How can I solve a problem with my printer hp laserjet 4100?

My printer is HP Laser Jet 4100 model when I switch on the power, it is not the normal sound that I hear from my printer. Before the sound were stronger than now i.e no checking printer checking takes place. Simply I hear smooth sound and on its screen it say paper jam. So how can I solve this problem?

  1. Open the printer up and check for any actual paper or something that is causing the sensor to go off. Remove the toner/drum unit. Consult your manual on how to do this properly, or go to HPs website and download a manual or look up some FAQs. If it still goes off, then I would definitely do more research in the support section of HPs website or give them a call.
  2. ~The screen should say more then simply "Paper Jam" should also give some clue as to where. Common places are as below paper feed (open any trays, check for paper partially fed up into printer) Behind/under toner cart (Remove toner, check for paper or pieces thereof) Fuser (Should be a door on rear of printer, open check for paper) Still stuck, email me via my account page with FULL details of theerror and I'll check the service manual for you
  3. Open up your printer doors and remove your cartridge. Check for paper that has not completed it's cycle of print and remove it if any. If there are no visible papers in the print line close the doors and the printer should reset and allow you to print. If that does not work check your cartridge and make sure the chip is still entact if it has one at all. Sometimes compatible cartridges will cause error messages, but don't worry, you should still be able to override the error message.
