Can someone give me tips for buying a laptop?

Where are some good places to look? I've looked at the dell dell, the hp website,the circuit city website, and the best buy website. I definitely want to get one on clearance, and possibly with a free printer or something. So far it seems like circuit city has the best clearance items. Although, they call it "outlet". Does this mean they are used computers? I want a new computer. Also, dell has this "instant savings" thing. Does that mean it's realy on sale? or is it mostly meant to make you think it is? Anyway, I just want tips on buying a laptop. Any tips would be great. i'd also like to know about how much I could save on like a $1000 laptop. I saw a free printer and $200 off. Can i find better than that? Okay, I've heard people saying that their laptops aren't even lasting one year. Is this normal? if you're careful, shouldn't it last a few years?

buy toshiba! it's great! i'm like using it 24 hrs a day. its $800.00. it has a fast internet and soft keyboard, and also visit pcrichards and bestbuy.
Sony Vaio is the ONLY one that has lasted more than a year - i am going on over 2 now with this one and love it!

I can't say where to get a system deal, but I will say this, I have 2 Toshibas & an ACER; the Toshiba's run windows XP just dandy. The Acer is a piece of junk. I've had a Dell & that was junk too. Spend the extra $$$ and get one that actually works, or you'll kick yourself later. Toshiba's have been excellent choices for me. Newegg.com has decent deals on all types of gear. Get on their 'price monitoring' list after you decide which system you want; then they will e-mail you when that system drops to a price level you seek. Think about getting the XP if possible; Vista has been issue laden from the get go.
son.i will tell you some tips on buying a laptop.buy dell laptops instead of hp[hewlett packard].hp is the best computer company in the world.but is too costly.but dell is great.but a dell laptop that is good for you. 1. the ram should be 2 gb. 2. the hard disk should be atleast 360 gb. 3.mhz should be the latest for you because according to the mhz you computer's speed depends. 4. it should be colourfull. if you buy dell's laptop it will be around 60thousand rupees and you could buy a super printer for that. but i suggest that you buy a computer because it is better than laptops.please mark my answer as the best answer.please.
toshibas are good computers. when u look for a labtop make sure it has alot of memory for when u need it. its really fun looking for labtops. look at this labtop its a toshiba U405-S2826. its a really good computer. its at best buy.
i must say ist u know your need why you want to buy laptop like for official work , entertaing or gaming purpose i suggest for official work u dont need to fo for higher config it will be okay for entertainment in general but for gaming or gud entertainment u must go for hp or dell these are also long lasting
