for mail in rebate do you copy receipt or give original?

i'm filling out the mail-in rebate for canon because we purchased a hp computer recently and it comes with this mail in rebate for the canon printer. it saids " attach a legible copy of your sales receipt showing teh canon printer with the date of puchase and the purchase prices" on the very bottom it saids " all required information on teh claim form must be hand printed; no mechanical reproductions or labels will be accepted" and also i bought this from frys, iono which receipt to give either, theres one that is a page huge and one tha tlooks like a regular receipt that saids Rebate Receipt also the fry's person, i remember him telling me to copy the bigger receipt but iono, because its not specific enough on the canon rebate form

  1. I believe they want you to hand print the rebate form ... you should be able to make a xerox of the original receipt and send that along.
  2. Definitely copy the receipt. If you sent it away and it got lost somewhere or never returned, you would be without your proof of purchase. Make sure it's noticeable that you scanned or photocopied it, but I wouldn't send the original. Mechanical reproductions would be referring to typing out the receipt I assume.
  3. send the rebate reciept
