help with hp deskjet 840c?

i got this printer at a garage sale..it has the color cartridge installed but no black cartridge which i will buy if the printer checks out....the Question is:will the paper feed work without the black printer cartridge installed.....can't get the paper feed to work "as it is" but wondered if the installation of the black ink cartridge will make it work ..if so ,i will buy the cartridge and see if it works.......thanks folks!

1. Check the link below I doubt the printer will dod anything without the black cartridge. Most printers won't work ever with the color cartridge missing.
2. the black cart' shouldnt have anything to do with the paper feed - sounds like its had its day !!
3. It sounds like something isn't aligned or the rollers are damaged. The cartridges won't have an effect on how the paper feeds.
