A used HP computer?

I found a used HP computer for sale in the paper. The bought it in 2003. He's asking $99. for the computer without a printer or speakers. I don't know much else about it because I'm not computer savey. Any thoughts or opinions on this sale? Is this a good deal?

  1. unfortunately, no one can really tell if this computer is well worth the 99 bucks if there is no specs for it. please post the spec so that it can be judged.
  2. It is five years old, and probably has Microsoft 98 installed on it, a really slow processor and small hard drive. They should be giving away the computer, not selling it.
  3. Well you would definatley want to find out the Ram, Hard Disk space, Video Card, if its pentium or we. and call a local computer store price a pc with what that pc has and there you go you will know if its a good deal. Its hard to tell with no info.
  4. couldn't buy parts for that great deal
  5. im sure this computer is crap so "dont eat anything unless you kno what it is" this goes for buying stuff as well my specs -Deca-core X900 CPU -20GB 2500Ghz RAM -200TB Holographic Storage -1TB GDDR12 Project78.2 Holo-Graphics Card
  6. I would say you should definitely go check i out before you decide to buy or not. Call them and ask if you can see it, turn it on, try it out. Of course all in front of the owner. But don't just take their word on it. I bought a used HP laptop from a friend. She bought it in 2004 and I paid $800 for it in 2006. I love it soooo much. HP is a great brand. I also have an HP printer. no problems at all with either. But you really need to check it out. With the price being that low there may be problems with it. Ask the owner and see if you can inspect it yourself. And try bringing along a friend who may know more about computers than you do. Good luck!
  7. When i sold my last cp i left it completely hooked up so the people could try it out.The first person bought it.I got $150.00
  8. I cannot guess the specs of this machine, but in five years technology has changed so much. In comparison, the cheapest computer at walmart.com is just under $300. I'm not sure I would spend even $100 on a computer that old.
  9. U should find out more about the PC's specs such as the CPU model, RAM, HDD, ... No one can judged a PC through ur information like those... read more about ur 99-bulk PC. But in my view, it may not work well with 99 bulk
  10. Here are a few things you need to find out for people on here to be able to check the deal: Proccesor, the measurement is usually in MHz or GHz the bigger the proccessor the faster the machine RAM, the memory of the computer where things you are working on at present time are saved, the bigger the RAM the more programs you can have open and the quicker they go, this is measured in Megabytes or Gigabytes Hard Drive Size, this is where you save all your documents to and programs Whether it comes with a monitor, keyboard and mouse Number of USB ports, whether it has a Etherhet connection and what operating system it runs on this i presume should be Windows XP, please email me if you find any of this information out so i can give you my opinion. matthewewilmot@hotmail.co.uk
  11. I wouldn't go for it... its a 2003 or later computer because it doesn't matter when he bought it what matters is how old it is. I would go for this computer http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=2841975&Sku=S451-3120 $79 you have to purchase a CPU Chip but it just means that you get to choose what you want. It is very upgradeable to meet your needs because it has the PCI-Express for a newer video card and is 64 bit unlike the HP you will buy. Spend the time to build your own computer (NOT THAT HARD) and the money $170 and you will have a great computer for a long time. This computer will need: $20 CD Rom. You can get a nice CD Rom that burns CDs and DVDs. http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=3233391&sku=L12-1099 $49.99 80GB SATA Hard Drive http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=1089592&sku=TSD-80JD $31.99 Processor 1.80 GhZ AMD Sempron 3200+ Processor http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=3391332&sku=CP1-AM2-3200A $24.99 OCZ Gold XTC 1024MB PC6400 DDR2 800MHz memory. http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/category/category_slc.asp?CatId=1554& For a total after rebates is $206.95 Its worth making your own computer like this because. 1. If you buy the 300 computer at walmart it is not upgradeable. By not I do not mean you cant I mean not worth it. these are "welfare systems" for people that do not plan on upgrading them because they can not afford to. 2. You choose. You get to say I like LG its a good brand so I want their cd rom drive. OR I am going to be playing some games so I want the 3Ghz processor for performance. 3. It will out last the walmart brand and the HP your talking about because it is that much more upgradeable. This system here can run Vista with no problems. The HP your talking about will not! 4. You will have fun putting it together. Spend the extra money and save your self the heart break and annoyance.
  12. 2003? Could be one of the early pentuim 4s running about 1 to 1.4 ghz average drives then were about 40 to 60 gig and video was lame.... I would say that if you do buy that one get ready to spend about 3 times more to get it to run decently
  13. Can you give us the specs of that offer. We need to know these before we can answer. 1) Processor 2) RAM (Memory) 3) Harddisk 4) Graphic card 5) with Monitor? CRT or LCD? how many inch? 6) any extra component like CD/DVD drive? 7) and working condition (any scratches, nonfunctional ports, etc) It would be wise if you can go there and test the computer before you make any decision.
