Will HP cartridges fit in Dell printers?

Hello, I've got a Dell all-in-one 944. I saw some of the HP cartridges are on sale in Office Depot right now, and I'm running low on inks. So is that possible that some kind of the HP cartridges can fit in my Dell printer? If they can, what size shall I get? Thank you so much!!!

  1. No, it doesn't work that way, sorry.
  2. if you are in office depot they should have a computer which you can look up your printer and see waht kind of ink cartridges it uses, check both printers and see if they are both the same.
  3. NO
  4. No, you cant do that. Next time dont get a Dell printer... even if it's free!
  5. No way. They are all unique - intentionally. Printers are sold for manufacturing cost and they make the money on the cartridges.
  6. It is not recommended. Even if you found an HP cartridge that actually fitted, it might not print; and if the use of an HP cartridge damages your printer, your warranty will be void
  7. I doubt it. Any printer I've ever had could only use that specific brand and model. That's actually the reason I didn't buy a Dell printer - I think you can only get cartridges from Dell. Some places offer to refill your old cartridges, but I've heard that can be risky. If your printer is expensive, it might not be worth trying.
  8. No because the are different brands and companies.
  9. if you are having problems getting cartridges for your printer there is an internet company that does cheaper compatible cartridges and the addy is www.thecartridgepeople.co.uk. we have just got 2 colour and 2 black for £18.
  10. No. Dell printers aren't made with HP technology but are made with Lexmark instead. So unfortunately no =( they won't work with HP cartridges. but unfortunately I don't know what Lexmark cartridges (if any) are reverse compatible for your system.
  11. hp carts are actually physically different in size from dells, and come with fairly different shades of ink. so, even if you could manage to squish the hps in (they are wider), the printing would look remarkably different from what you are used to. also, the contacts are programmed differently. your dell would error up and you and refuse to print :( office depot should sell dell compatibles. if they don't, try staples. if they don't, you'll need to either find a local refill company or order from dell. for future reference, it is lexmark that makes the same size cartridges, but if the 944 is a newer printer, lexmark and dell have started to program their carts differently even though they still look exactly the same. also, just because dell and lexmark look the same, doesn't mean you can use lex in your dell right off the bat. you'll need to alter your printer to get lex to fit, and that is something i can't tell you how to do (but there should be instructions on the internet somewhere). if you do go this route, do be careful. some dremelling or drilling is involved. hope this info helps a little!
  12. As someone who has modified their Lexmark printers to accept Dell cartridges, I can tell you it's simply not worth it. Office Depot, and others, often carry their "own brand" of compatible cartridges. They are refilled, mind you, but as long as the store will warranty them.........go for it. You may, indeed, find compatible cartridges for your 944. The corresponding Lexmark numbers are 34 and 35, but if you look at the top of your Dell cartridges and compare them to the top of the Lexmark ones, you'll see the parts of the cartridge that stick out too far for you to just switch them out. You'll need to butcher your printer in order to even fit them in. Besides, modifying your Dell printer to accept Lexmark cartridges is not going to save any money at all....they are both equally overpriced.
  13. no it wont fit, beside dell printer are lexmark made, maybe lexmark cartridges will fit.
