Can a wireless USB adapter be used on a printer?
I have an HP 5850 wireless printer that the wireless died on. I tried connecting it via Ethernet, but either the cable is bad or the entire network component in the printer is shot. It works fine via USB. I'm wondering if I could use a wireless USB adapter and connect it to a USB cable, and see the printer on the network?

- It might work, but when you go to the store just ask one of the people that works in the computer department, they should be able to answer the question for you.
- NO! Most if not all all usb devices are CLIENTs that need a HOST PC/MAC. Get the network setup software and try to setup the network driver. (And try to unplug the power and your wireless may work when you plug it back in -- maybe.)
- You'll need a "Printer Server" network device because ordinary network interface adapters can't "do" the printer protocols needed to manage the printer. Cheap way out:: Just hook it to a PC via the USB and share the printer... Best bet: buy a new printer and a service contract...
