what part of a desktop stores your personal files?

i have a broken hp desktop that i want to sale for parts but i have personal files on it. And i was wondering what part has all my personal files on it so i can take it out?

3. the hard drive stores all the data on a pc so you will need to remove it or format it and reinstall windows, some people will not be so keen to buy a pc without a hard drive so you might be better to format it unless you have another one to put into it
