I have a 3-year-old laptop. should I buy more accessories?

I have an HP that I bought 3 years ago. every 6 months or so, I have to replace the laptop charger and the battery every 8 -12 month. and now I have to replace both the battery and laptop charger. this laptop cost me about 750.00 back then. do you think I should just [replace the laptop] before spending another 200 dollars (plus I need to go get the vents cleaned out so maybe another 100) (user )Laptop Repair : thanks so much for the advice. do you recommend I get a new $350 laptops (im going to have to pay around this much anyway for the Accessories for this laptop I have now ) or should I just stick with this one that seems to run smoothly aside from the failed accessories (of course, after strictly following your advice )

  1. you should buy a new laptop
  2. ya, just buy a new laptop. there are a lot of wonderful laptops/desktops now a day. Plus if you go online you can customize the parts you want in a computer.
  3. I think before you spend another dime on anything, you need to closely examine how you treat your laptop. I'll put it to you this way. The power adapter I use on my laptop, I have been using since 2008. I had to purchase it when I got the laptop, because the previous owner of the laptop was sold the incorrect adapter by a small shop after he had lost his on a business trip. The one he had lost was the original. So, at no time did an adapter fail. However you are using your laptop, or wherever you are using your laptop, to cause the power adapter to fail where you need to replace it every 6 months... that is an issue that needs to be addressed, as it will most likely continue regardless of whether you purchase another laptop or not. This is not the fault of the laptop. This is the fault of where you plug the adapter in... or a pet that chews on the wire... or how you bend/fold the wires... or whether you yank the cables when hot... or whether you use the adapter on a surge protector... or any number of possibilities. At any rate, you need to closely examine how you use the laptop and the power cord, and you need to make some changes. The battery... that's slightly different. Again, you should not have had to replace yours that frequently. I don't know if anyone has told you, but in order to get the longest possible life out of your battery, you need to drain it completely before charging it. That means, if you use it on battery power for 15 minutes, you don't plug it back in to top it off. You either need to remove the battery before you plug the unit in, or use the unit on battery power until the warning comes up that you are almost out of juice, and THEN plug it in. It needs to charge uninterrupted until it is full. Again, if you don't change these habits now and you just replace your existing laptop, you will continue to have the same problems. At any rate, It's a 3 year old laptop. That does not automatically mean it should be replaced, regardless of what any advertising says. Sitting on my coffee table is a 7 year old Toshiba that still works great. It's fast, it does what it should, and it doesn't need to be replaced. When properly cared for, a laptop can easily last a decade or more (properly cared for means replacing the parts that NEED to be maintained, not the parts that had their lives shortened prematurely). In the end, if you just want a new laptop, you are going to find any reason to get one. So... it's really up to you and what you want.
  4. i think you should probably buy it. looks amazing
