- I wouldn't buy anything from HP. Here is my experience. I bought an HP laptop. The nVidia graphics chip overheated and fried the motherboard. This became a well-known problem with the nVidia chip. For years, HP simply denied and ignored thousands of customer complaints. I could not afford the $1000 they wanted to repair their defective product. Here's how another company handled the same problem. Apple used the defective nVidia chip in the MacBook Pro which I also own. When the graphics chip fault became known, Apple put a customer service plan in place extending the warranty for 3 additional years. Sure enough, mine failed. I took the laptop to the Apple store at the mall. They did a $1000 main board replacement for FREE with a 1-day turnaround. I will never buy HP again. If you are hell-bent on buying a computer from a crappy company, this seems like a very good price. Most of the quotes I got were over $1,000.
