Question about Best Buy warranty on an HP Laptop?

I bought an hp laptop from Best Buy two years ago. I've had numerous problems with it, the hard drive has crashed twice, we've had it shipped out and shipped back time and time again, just to have the same things go wrong again. Every time something new happens, Best Buy refuses to accept the fact that the computer is a piece of crap and just give me a new one (Sort of like a Lemon Law deal), We bought an extended warranty that expires in June of 2010.. When we bought it, the sales person basically said that the warranty will cover ANYTHING... aside from dropping it in a pool of water. She even mentioned it being run over by a car would still be under the warranty. I guess my question is, what can I do to get a new one? Will BB really just own up and give me a laptop if I bring mine in mangled, and say it was some crazy accident? If this were just some cheap old computer, I wouldn't mind so much... but we spent well over a thousand dollars on this computer, I think it should have held up for at LEAST a couple of years! The first problem happened when the laptop was only a couple of months old.

  1. if the seller is performing as specified in the warranty, you have no complaint with them. Your complaint is with HP. Provide HP and the Consumer Affairs a detailed history of the problems you've had with the computer, you could get lucky. Otherwise, continue to deal with BB. Read you warranty carefully, the salesman's line sounds very much like a salesman line. Good Luck
  2. Me, personally, I don't buy warranties on electronics, especially computers, b/c I KNOW the bastard companies that sell them will not honor them. You're better off taking your laptop to a local computer repair store. Oh, and stay away from Geek Squad. They will delete your data, factory restore it (two things you can do on your own for free) and then tell you they can't fix it and give you a bill anyways
