  1. It's not so much our experience with each camera that matters, but rather yours. Everyone has a personal preference for camera brands. For example, I like Canon for the user interface but that's just me. Another person can like Nikon for the same reason. This is like asking "Which is better: Coke or Pepsi?" Head over to a camera/electronic store to try out a few Canon and Nikon cameras for yourself. Navigate through the menus, look at the button placement, and just figure out which brands' cameras are more comfortable for you to work with in general.
  2. i think u should search them on cnetreviews.com. They give pros and cons of cnet and pros and cons from people. They also got little videos u can watch.
  3. Hi, About your friends - you see? One has Nikon, one has Canon - they both take great pictures. What does that tell you? That DSLR cameras are so similar, it just comes down to one or two features, especially when below $2000. Nikon D3100 is the best bang for your buck right now ;) Here's a DSLR Buying Guide - http://www.the-dslr-photographer.com/2009/11/which-dslr-to-buy/
  4. Nikon is BMW (performance) Canon is Mercedes (Luxury) From personal experience...I don't like the ego that comes with canon, or mercedes for that matter.. (for most shooters). And i think Nikon has the edge in higher end professional equipment. Its a personal choice. 5. Nikon D3100 is an amazing deal! Unless you make most of your income from photography or have a stockpile of old lenses (this camera can only autofocus with AFS lenses) then this camera is the must have camera of the year. If you have good composition skills and an eye for light you can take photos worthy of a magazine with this. Seriously, you won't regret buying this camera. When you do, do yourself a favor and buy an additional Nikon AFS lens that has a maximum aperture of 2.8, 1.8 or 1.4. These lenses will take better portraits and deal better in low light than the kit lens. s
