How do you improve audio recording on an HP Laptop computer?

I am trying to make a video on my HP Laptop computer. The quaility of the video is good however, the sound is shakey and weird. Are there any ways I can fix or improve this? I'd rather not spend any money.

2. Since you didn't include any specifics, I'm guessing that you try to do that without the help of high quality video-audio editing software, just with the Windows movie maker. Movie maker is a low end video editing software, good for maybe low quality youtube clips or 3gp mobile phone video clips. For high quality video and audio you will need better software. What I used and recommend is Pinnacle Studio, it is the best video editing software in my opinion, as it has all kinds of editing options and produces professional quality and effects. Unfortunately it does not come cheap, as it sell for about $100. The only other option I could think of is VirtualDub, which is free but only works for certain video and audio formats (.avi, DivX, XviD).
