Should i get a laptop with a dual core processor or spend an extra $100 for an i3 processor?
I'm getting an HP laptop, for $500 I can get one with a dual core processor and 4 GB ram but that includes a case, printer, and flash drive. Or for $600 I can get the same model, except it would have 6 GB ram and an i3 processor. But it wouldn't include the printer or any other accessories. I'm not too worried about the printer, I never print things anyway. And I can always just buy a case and a flash drive. They're pretty cheap. This computer has to last me a while, so I kind of think it would be worth it just to pay the extra $100 for the i3 with 6 GB ram, but I don't know. I could use the $100 to buy something else. I just don't know lol, which one would you get? The more expensive one or the cheaper one?

- i've a dell laptop with c2d processor and it works fine for me, Ram doesn't make much difference to the speed of your laptop its mostly dependent on the speed of the processor (i.e. Its 1.8 GhZ or 2.0 ghz) you should buy a laptop with minimum processor speed of 2.1 ghz so that it runs windows 7 comfertably.if i were you i'd have spent the $100..buy the expensive one if you want to keep it for a long time.
- pentium dual core and core2duo are older cpus. newer inexpensive dual cores from intel are the p6xxx and the i3. p6xxx dual cores can be fast enough for everyday computing. i3 ha higher speeds and more power.
- Oh you'll enjoy the i3 and the extra RAM for sure I'd say. Spend the extra for something that will last longer. Core i3 is about 3 times as fast as dual core...and extra RAM means you can have more programs and things open at once without your computer jamming or going too slow.
- I would personally go for the basic one. Even on my desktop no game ever takes my ram use over 4gb so the chances are you will never actually use any of the extra 2gb Yes the I3 will be faster but i dont think the difference will be very noticable at all, and not noticable at all for just light tasks like web browsing. Where as you will definately be able to notice a case printer and flash drive. Also if you somehow managed to open up enough programs to use 6gb ram chances are even the i3 processor would have given up and your computer would be running at a snails pace so i really dont think its worth paying for the extra memory.
