Some questions about color laser printers?

I'm considering the Kyocera FS-C5100DN color laser printer which I can buy in Australia for about $600 (including delivery costs). I would be printing at least 30 pages per month and probably 100 to 200 pages most months. Is this enough printing or could the printer have problems from not being used enough? The printer weighs 37kg. Is this too heavy for one person to lift onto a desk? I'm attracted by the low running cost of just 6c per page (23c for most other color laser printers) and being good for the environment etc. I'm open to suggestions but it has to be relevant to Australia Thanks.

  1. I have experience with some of the Kyocera printers (not that exact one however). I've found them to be well built and able to produce good quality results. Regardless of the printing costs you've researched, you need to find out the exact availability and cost of the replacement cartridges since that will dictate your "Real costs". Your usage is quite small however; I wouldn't expect that you would need to change the cartridges very often (less than once a year by the looks of it). No matter what, laser printers will always work out to be cheaper for printing than ink-jets (for most office applications anyways). Laser printers do not suffer from the ink-jet issue of having anything dry up when they are not used; you should not have an issue on that issue. I would recommend having somebody help you move that printer; it's doable with one person, but one slip and there goes your back (or the printer).
