Why do I have to re-install my printer drivers on my laptop eveytime I connect them?
I Have a C5180 photosmart printer-HP. My new laptop is an HP with Window vistas. I installed the printer drivers and everything works fine, but if i take the usb of the printer out of the port , when i come to put it in again, I have to go through the whole procedure of loading the print drivers as it doesn't recognise it. Why does it do this??

- do you put them back in the exact same usb port? if you put them in different ones everytime they re-install
- snap, i had the exact same problem with my hp photosmart C4180 and have vista. I asked a local computer technician and he advised me to uninstall the printer and then re-install when the printer is not plugged into the laptop, and now it works fine, hope I've helped. xxx

- HP printers always make you do that. They have never tried to make a fix for that error even though they are a good company.
- Try unpluging the printer when you shut off the laptop after you have done with it then remember to plug it back in before turning on and it should work fine.
- use the same usb port cuz if you plug it into a different one windows has to relocate the hardware to re-install the software
- my hp printer puts necessary drivers in a folder called, of all things.Temp. I often delete temp files and away go the drivers. I found the folder and tried to rename it . no luck
