Should I take this HP Health Check warning that I need a new battery seriously?

1. NO. But that depends on how you use your laptop. If you constantly work or use the laptop away from a socket then you need a full performing battery. As long as your battery is still able to provide atleast 2 hours of power when you are away from a socket that should still do fine. If it barely even keeps up 30mins then you should definitely purchase a new battery.
