The main uses for the machine will be school work, web and a few games.

1. toss of a coin. but for that money, you should be able to get a core i5 cpu. and more usb ports, the better.
2. how long do you intend to use for if you intend it to last 2 or more years it is probebly not going to happen you need the premium range of hps laptops for that hp eny line the hp envy 17 is top of it probebly the best it will last at least 3 years depending how you treat it my friend has had his for a year no problems t comes with 1 year warranty depend where you are my friend got an extended warranty for an extra 5 years!
