Is refilling printer cartridge bad for printer?

I have a desk jet printer and use hp22 and hp21 cartridge. I like to refill them as it is much cheaper and environment friendly (u don't throw away the plastic casing and u generate less waste), but the company (HP) advertises to uses genuine cartridge (and not refilled) and says it can harm your printer. Is this true or just a hoax to boost sales of HP. I don't find any difference in printer quality.

  1. I have refilled my ink cartridges for years without having any problems Some people will say yes, while others say no Your call
  2. It's intended as scare mongering. I refill all my printers and always have for the last 6 years. Not one of them has ever suffered any problems caused by refills and I can have two to three on the go at any one time. I agree with you, that print quality is no different. I print in high volume and need the printouts to be very good. I get very good indeed from refills. It's designed to get you to buy the dearer ink or indeed compatibles that the poster's friend just happens to sell as those 'fake' inks don't destroy the printer but other refills do! When they say they destroy your printer in that overly dramatic way ask them in what way they 'destroy' the printer? They want be able to give you any actually evidence but will not do doubt pile on the drama and anecdote! In 6 years I think I would have had a least one printer destroyed yet I have not! That's because it's a nonsense claim or peopel can't refill propery or refill carts that you can't refill which is not the same thing.
