HP 2110V drivers. Driving me crazy. do Printers have their own ID ?
I try so hard to have a less complex life. So when my wife bought a HP2110v copy/printer/scanner for her office, I bought one for my office and one for home. In addition,,,I bought 3 Dell Latitude D510 's for my daughters and myself. My problem is, the home printer quit working so I donated my office 2110v that worked perfectly and it wont print at home for them. My question is ..Does HP have some kind of ID number that stops some computers from working the same model ? I am thinking a 2110v driver CD is not the same as another 2110v Driver CD or the drivers available fron HP online. I know how to plug in a printer. It is a printer software problem. I have two disks for this particular printer. Part of my question is does each machine have its own CD. even if it is the same model.

- I don't know much about this issue. Actually, I've never heard of a problem like this before. For me, the best solution for this problem is to install the printer with the original supplied CD for better compatibility. The drivers on the website may be also updated and fixed so it's better to download these but before you do that try to examine the driver version. I've never heard of a Printer Id before. There are many reasons why a printer is not printing. Try to examine its connecting cables and ports. To have the most compatibility, insert the printer on the same port that the other printer is using before. Try also to change its cable (either printer cable or power cord, maybe it's damaged). Is the printer recognized by the computer when it is turned on? If yes, then try to print. If it prints blank or wrong colours, try to clean its head. Try to contact HP only if the printer is under warranty is still valid. Hope this helps.
