How does a Kodak 10 mega pixel digital camera compare to a Canon Rebel ?

What's the biggest and most obvious difference, other than the price?

  1. You can't compare. One is a point and shoot, the other is a DSLR Canon. With DSLRS you have complete control over every shot, and sensors are much larger. If you care not to learn the basics of photography by all means buy a point and shoot; but rather than Kodak, I'll steer you to Nikon, Canon and Fuji brands.
  2. Kodak hasn't made a decent camera in decades. Ironically Kodak makes some of the best digital sensors in the world and they are used in some of the world's best digital cameras!
  3. The biggest and most obvious difference, other than price is that the Rebel has interchangeable lenses. Technically speaking the Canon Rebel has a larger sensor than the Kodak. So enlargements especially with the Canon Rebel will allow you more cropping of your image. But I just bought a Kodak Z981( which is a true point & shoot camera, not a DSLR or Digital Single Lens Reflex camera) about 9 months ago and can produce an image just as sharp as the Canon. However over the years I have disciplined myself to shooting full frame without cropping. What camera would I recommend a person younger with a longer photographic horizon than this 69 year old. Definitely the Canon Rebel hands down. "Provided" you spend $4.00 bucks once in a while, and have a 11x14 print made to hang on the walls of your home. If you are stuck in the 4x6 size print rut, then buy the Kodak, you won't know what you have missed. One point I always harp on. Always shot with the pixel setting set to maximum. In order words choose the setting that yields the LEAST number of pictures for the memory card installed in the camera. These larger picture files make the best pictures. This is another area were the Canon shines.
  4. I think you should go with Canon EOS Rebel T2i 18 MP CMOS APS-C Digital SLR Camera * 18.0-megapixel CMOS (APS-C) sensor; * DIGIC 4 image processor for high image quality and speed * ISO 100-6400 (expandable to 12800) for shooting from bright to dim light; * enhanced 63-zone, Dual-layer metering system * Improved EOS Movie mode with manual exposure control and expanded recording 1920 x 1080 (Full HD) * Wide 3.0-inch Clear View LCD monitor; * Dedicated Live View/Movie shooting button * New compatibility with SDXC memory cards, * Plus new menu status indicator for Eye-Fi support http://www.amazon.com/Canon-T2i-Digital-3-0-Inch-18-55mm/dp/B0035FZJHQ/?tag=nktf-20 http://rover.ebay.com/rover/1/711-53200-19255-0/1?ff3=4&pub=5574865779&toolid=10001&campid=5336440665&customid=nktf&mpre=http%3a%2f%2fshop.ebay.com%2fi.html%3f_nkw%3dcanon%2bt2i%2bcamera%26_sacat%3d0%26_odkw%3dnikon%2bd3100%2bcamera%26_osacat%3d0%26_trksid%3dp3286.c0.m270.l1311
