I have a HP laptop computer and I have not used the camera?

for awhile now like 6 months and my computer is only 2 years old. There is nothing wrong with the computer and I tried everything from updates to help with yahoo IM, What do u think the problem could be? Do web cams break in the computer? It was never dropped so no damage.

1. Make sure your camera drivers are up to date. Go to Hp's website, and download the specific drivers for your model of your laptop. I guarantee that it's the drivers! This has happened to me once upon a time!
2. Like anything in a computer, it is possible for it to discontinue working. A few things to check; Do you have the drivers for the camera installed? Do you have to have the video capture program active in order for the camera to work? Have you checked Device Manager to see if the camera is even being detected by the computer? If it isn't being detected, it may be broken, disconnected, or require a driver reinstall.
3. The web cam is possibly lacking the updated files and as you have not used it for a long time then it is just a peripheral which is not used Update the driver files and the software if needed then it should start to work again
