Lexmark E232 Laser Printer - leaving black marks along the side of the page when printing.?

I have pulled out the cartridge and wiped off the green roller several times. This does not seem to do anything, even on the first page printed after it is clean. The cartridge is not a re-filled one, it is supposed to be top of the line. Could it be the drum (or whatever they call the roller on these printers) or is it a bad ink cartridge ?? Does anyone know how I can tell for sure without having to call a service guy ?? Thanks for any advice you may have.

1. Consult/read the trouble shooting in the user guide for the Lexmark E232 Laser Printer. Clean the printing head and roller. Cycle the printer through a clean cycle.
