Can I use Card Stock paper in my Samsung ml-1740 Laser Printer?

I have to print using thick card stock paper. I already set thick paper in the on screen settings. The paper is not being fed into the printer when I print. Do I need to set the paper type on the printer itself?

  1. According to the printer specifications, this is the media capability of the printer: Media Weight: 60.0 g/m2 - 163.0 g/m2 If your card stock is not within those limits, then you may be out of luck. However. card stock is usually not able to be pulled out of paper trays effectively, and most printers require it to be fed using the manual feed tray or slot (which it appears your printer has). So try that manual feed slot and see if that works OK for you. You also have a rear output tray that should be used for card stock (just pull down the back cover/tray, see your User's manual if any questions http://downloadcenter.samsung.com/content/UM/200401/20040130094202578_ML1740_English.pdf )so that the card stock doesn't have to make that last turn for the normal output. As for the paper type setting, that is usually selected in the print driver properties/options when you go to print. Best of luck.
