How does the unique file naming in Digital Cameras works?
How does the unique numbered file naming in the digital cameras work. How two files from different cameras of same company even never are same?

- Different manufacturer's use different ones. The folder scheme is different as well. Two cameras of the same brand don't necessarily have the same name pattern either. I think the more professional Canon cameras use something different than the PowerShot series for example. There are two ways cameras name the pictures as well. You can set it to continuous, where it will count from 0000 to 9999 and then recycle, or it will reset every time you unload the memory card. Simply, different brands always use a different set of folders and file names.
