What is the best printer to buy for home, prints good color pictures and does not need a new cartridge always?

Printers have become so cheap lately that I don't know how fast they eat through the ink, which is the true commodity now. My HP sucks now plus it takes 3 cartridges that are 25+ a piece! Help please

  1. go to the brother web site,,,and look on there auction page,,,i got an all in one printer, scanner, copier, fax, and the programs for printing photos strait from the SD card,,it also has 3 card readers,SD,XD,CF,the cartridges are single ones for each color and i get them from a company called ,,,,999inks.com,,,iv had it now for 6 years and is still going good
  2. laser printers are awesome and can print alot but both the printer and the ink are quite expensive, all ink jets are about the same in the matter of ink usage - don't print photos on your printer except for emergencies! go to costco or wal-mart where you can print them for like 18 cents a photo. If you just want to print black and white then a cheap laser printer can print like 1000pgs, once again though the cartriges are like 75.00 each
  3. Try Epson, especially the Photo Stylus. I have an Epson Stylus Photo PX700W, which is an all-in one type, but it prints a first-class photograph. It takes 6 ink tanks but you can buy them either as a pack costing around £50, or you can but them singly for around £12. It sounds a lot of money but it is about one of the cheapest printers on the market. You could, of course, buy a cheaper Epson that does only printing, but make sure it is a photo stylus type because the ink jets are specially designed to print on good quality photo paper. Happy hunting!
  4. I have an Epson Stylus R300 Photo, this is about five years old now but the updated ones are probably very similar, I have always used compatible inks from an EBay seller, they are about £10 for the set of six separate colours and I can honestly say that I have never had the slightest problem with them, I do a fair bit of photography and the colour requirement is obviously very important to me, I can see no difference from the prints using genuine cartridges, so every time that I replace them I save about £60 and if you buy the compatibles at the right time you often get an offer of three sets for £20 with the postage free, I also have a little gadget that resets the chip in the cartridges so that I can use all of the ink that is in there, I replace the cartridges when the colours start to look a bit off, the little gadget is called a ZAP IT, before you buy a new printer, try to see if you can get compatibles for your HP and give them a go, you may be very surprised at the results and the price
  5. you can consider buying Epson Stylus SX415 All-in-One Printer http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0029U2FOI?ie=UTF8&tag=tbdbestdeal-y-21&linkCode=as2&camp=1634&creative=19450&creativeASIN=B0029U2FOI
