HP CP2025 Laser Jet printer. Streaking causes by knockoff cartridge?

I have an HP CP2025 Laser Jet printer. I am getting black streaks down the pages. The first page will be fine, then the next has a little streaking, then it gets worse. I just started using a knock-off printer cartridge. If this is what is causing the problem, can anything be done to make it better? Yes, I know using HP cartridges is better. That's what I told my boss, but he wanted to try these cheaper ones. Yeah, I cleaned it when I was trying to correct a different problem.

  1. I have heard many stories similar to yours. For myself, I always use genuine cartridges from the printer manufacturer and am completely satisfied with the results. I realize they are more expensive - but like it is said “you get what you pay for". Some people choose to pinch pennies using knock-offs, but it is always questionable how much they save in the long run. I would take the bad cartridges back to where you purchased them from for a refund.
  2. The streaks are caused by a low-quality refill. Thre's probably air in the cartrdige. HP is fussy and for sure, it will work with the original cartrdige. Some cartrdige can only be refilled 2 or 3 times maximum. Then they start acting funny.
  3. Sometimes you can get the faulty cart replaced by the remanufacturer, some brands are better than other. I have seen many bad refilled carts, but also some bad brand new genuine HP's. You can always take out the cart, swing back the cover plate and see if there are streaks/ discolouration on the green roller, if so the carts a bad one. Good luck
  4. Hi Robin, Have you tried to clean the heads of your printer as this can help also if you have left it awhile without using it will need a clean before using again.
