Can I buy any HP lead/power supply for my laptop or does it have to a specific one?

The lead to my HP laptop has broken. I have put some tape at the end of it which helped it to charge the laptop ok for awhile but even that isnn't helping anymore. I have looked on ebay for HP lead but do I need to buy a particular one?

1. yes,all hp laptops have different power leads,but you can get a universal one with all the types on it :D
2. If it's just the plug that's broken it can be replaced. What matters is the voltage, and if it supplies enough current. There are generic power supplies, it's the size of the connector that can be difficult to get right.
3. If it is just the power lead and not the adaptor, then anyone will do, providing it fits your inlet on charger adaptor.
4. Hi You have to buy a power supply that fits your laptop and provides the right voltage and enough amps. Be careful of all the cheap generics on ebay with no brand. Make sure the adapter you buys has a CE mark, branded and preferaby RoHS certified. Just put the model of laptop in google and you will find the correct adapter for your HP.
