What do you think of HP's Pavilion DV6 series?
I found a deal on HP's website for a DV6t Select Edition with the following specs for about $800 delivered. I'm mostly going to use this computer for school work (word processing, slide shows, excel etc.), heavy internet browsing, small business usage (excel and quickbooks), small to medium photoshop design and editing usage, but NO gaming. Genuine Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-450M Dual Core processor (2.40GHz, 3MB L3 Cache)with Turbo Boost up to 2.66 GHz 512MB ATI Mobility Radeon(TM) HD 5470 switchable graphics [HDMI, VGA] FREE Upgrade to 6GB DDR3 System Memory (2 Dimm) FREE Upgrade to 500GB 7200RPM SATA Hard Drive with HP ProtectSmart Hard Drive Protection Microsoft(R) Office Starter 2010 No additional security software 6 Cell Lithium Ion Battery (standard) 15.6" diagonal High Definition LED HP Brightview Widescreen Display (1366x768) No TouchScreen (includes HP TrueVision Webcam) SuperMulti 8X DVD+/-R/RW with Double Layer Support Intel Wireless-N Card Backlit Keyboard with Fingerprint Reader HP Home & Home Office Store in-box envelope _________________________________________ What do you think of this computer overall, and about the price. From what I've been able to find, it's a good computer, but the touch pad could have been better (with real buttons). I was also thinking about a dell studio, but they are a bit pricer and had some issues with being hot if I am correct. Lenovo's computers looked nice too, and I think that I might like the track pad and mouse buttons directly under the keyboard. Thanks for the replies guys, keep 'em coming! I have the model with the 6 gig ram upgrade saved into my cart, so I *think* it might let me buy it, only one way to find out...

- Get it and a copy of Starcraft 2! Am not sure if the fingerprint reader is that effective. It's usually fiddly and maybe you could save on that. Also, read the return/refund conditions. So if you are unhappy with something, like dead pixels or anything else, you should be able to say: "hey HP take it back!" Put the link for the Lenovo so we can compare.
- I just ordered this laptop about 5 days ago. The Free Upgrade to 6GB Ram is no longer available, Now you get a free blue ray player (Dumb i know). Anyways mine came with the 6 GB Ram Upgrade. For Internet Browsing you don't have to say "Heavy" Internet browsing because unless your making a website that term is useless. The laptop looks pretty nice, I went to Bestbuy in Izmir and i played around with the laptop and it looks very nice and it is light. For Photoshop/Video Editing this laptop is Pretty much perfect for you. Now while i was in bestbuy I kept on playing with the touch pad and I loved it! The style is excellent. Real buttons are pointless if you ask me. I got in love with the Touch pad :) The fingerprint reader reads very nicely too. The Bestbuy person showed me it works within one swipe. The laptop there had the backlit keyboard and it looks very nice. stunning keyboard and the buttons felt nice on the fingers. The light couldn't of been seen so good because i was in a lighted room but it looked good when i cupped my hands over it. Possibly the only thing i found weird was that the top of the laptop screen was bigger than the bottom but I guess that It is only different to my eyes because On my Compaq Presario V5000 it's not like that. Anyways I'll receive my laptop (HP DV6T Select Edition in 6 days :)) People say that the touchscreen option is well worth it but I completely disagree. A touchscreen laptop screen wont be as good because the graphics seem to go down and the smudges on the screen will bug you a lot. The only good thing with the touch screen option is that you get an edge to edge infinity display. Anyways the laptop you will get now is 4GB ram and your concern is that the touch pad is pad. The touch pad is godly! I got use to it in 2 minutes and I couldn't get off of it until my mother told me to hurry up :(. You probably don't like it but I'm just saying its not that bad and It's not a reason not to buy a laptop. Also this laptop comes with dedicated keys on the left side. The calculator/Email/HP Software things and that stuff! :) You can change that to what you want anyways. So to finish it off I hope you order and enjoy your order because No doubt you'll like it. Can't Wait my 6 days :D
- If you need my opinion how about this specification. it matches more than your need. but talking about quality and cost. it is better to compare and see test report all brand laptops (HP, Sony Vaio, Toshiba, IBM, Dell, etc) at the same specification . so that you know well which to buy.
