I have a deskjet HP printer and I need help resetting printer after I loaded my refilled printer cartridge.?

The printer shows my cartridge is empty after the store refilled it. The instructions say in order for the printer to recognize the filled cartridge, I may need to reset the printer and/or select the option that says "new cartridge". My OS is windows xp home edition. Can anyone help?

1. it should prompt you to align cartrige if not, go to their site or you just put it in wrong
2. take it out, you might have it in wrong. if thats not the problem, go to the start bar, and go to system pref. and then go to printers and fax, and try to find a problem. try turning it off and back on again, and reinstalling the software for it.
