why does video skip on brand new hp laptop?

I've got a fairly new hp laptop with 4gb of ram and it still locks up when trying to watch movies saved on the hard drive. Is there an easy fix for this?

1. No easy fix. You probably have a lightweight video chip that cannot process the amount of data necessary for the resolution of your screen. You have plenty of RAM, but the CPU could also be underpowered.
