Do all laser printers use a iron oxide toner?

I need a laser printer that uses a iron oxide toner for a kiln fired glass project.

  1. No. Most toners are a type of wax or plastic powder or resin, not iron oxide. Most commonly If a laser printer uses any iron oxide, it is usually called "developer" which is a component that is used in some printers to carry the toner to the drum, but it is not normally a component that is put on the paper itself. The toner is made to be melted and fused to the paper, iron oxide will not melt and fuse to the paper like that since iron oxide is metallic. However, there are some printers that use mono-component toner with trace amounts of iron oxide mixed with the wax or plastic powders that may be what you're referring to. You'd have to get the manufacturer specifications or a list of printers from someone that already has researched which printers use iron oxide as part of the toner. Best of luck.
