My Macbook is not printing to any printer?

My Macbook running Mac OS X 10.4.11 is not printing to any USB printer. It recognizes printers when I plug in the USB, and I have gone into the Printer Setup Utility to set up the printer. The USB appears to be working also because on my HP Photosmart C2480 All-In-One, it will scan images to the computer without a problem. However, when I click to print, although the queue will pop up on screen, no documents are added to the queue. Similarly, if I go into Printer Setup Utility, if I select the "Utility" or "Supply Level" buttons, the icons in my dock will move to the left briefly, as though another icon were about to go there to open up the utility, but then they go right back and nothing opens up. Any thoughts on what could be causing this? I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers, and also "Reset Printing System" in the Printer Setup utility. Thanks!
