What are some decent digital cameras for taking clear shots of face make-up?

I currently have a Cannon PowerShot S 500 Digital Elph, and it takes nice photos, but I can't seem to get clear face shots to show off make-up. I also don't want to spend a fortune on a new one. Are there any digital cameras out there that are capable of taking clear face shots that an average person could afford? Feel free to list even the more expensive models, just in case. Just keep in mind I'm on a budget.
