Having problems with my HP 550 laptop?

Now im with 3mobile broadband okay and i was given as part of my contract package an HP 550 laptop along with my dongle. Now for some reason the dongle wont work on it but it works fine on my desktop pc. on the laptop it just keeps saying a problem occurred when trying to connect the device. saying either the drivers are corrupted or something else is causing it. Now 3 mobile were no help they just gave me a number for HP support but i know i couldn't get anything out of them because i tried in past and got take it to the 3 store and get it replaced. thing is i dont want it replacing i want my dongle to work on it. its too much hassle if i do that. now iv tied getting rid of the corrupted drivers from my dongle but it wont let me get rid of them because as soon as i reset they reappear again. Please help a guy out please thanks. HP 550. the drivers wont delete they reappear when i rest the computer. i got it like a year ago now so its not windows premium its only vista home basic.

1. Reinstall the USB drivers on the HP,, just go to HP site, and get the drivers for your computer,, they are free, they come in a zip file, extract all, then click the setup exe file . ~
