Printer Recommendation! Canon, Lexmark, HP?

I need a printer for my classroom. After doing some research, I narrowed it down to 3 models: Canon Pixma mx860, Lexmark Interact s605, and HP Photosmart Premium all in one (CD055A). I have always had HP printers, and have not been impressed. I really liked the Canon, except I read that if you run of of ink the whole printer won't function (not sure if that is true!) I have not had a lot of experience with Lexmark, but the printer seems great...and it is on sale this week. Scanning and duplexing are the features I am really looking for... Thanks in advance for any words of wisdom!

  1. Go with the Lexmark. I've used 2 Lexmarks & both have been reliable, & it's on sale!
  2. I had a lot of trouble with the Canon I had. The ink dried up and it would constantly pull a bunch of pages through at once. My HP has been much better and everyone I know who's had Lexmark said they were good.
  3. What you have heard about the Canon's are true. Since these are ink jet printers the head sprays ink out and can get clogged. Canon and Lexmark use the ink to clean the head so you will go through more ink with this method. HP uses heat to break down the ink in the head so you will use less ink. I stopped buying ink jet printers and opted for laser printers. Better quality and longer lasting ink supply.
