"HP photosmart 2570 printers does not work if the colour ink is empty" How do I make it work without replacing I don't even use. I need Black only.

1. A printer will only work if both cartrdiges have ink in them. If color is empty, you must have used it at some point
2. Some printers actually use color to print black (for instance, some mix in a little yellow). So you do need the color cartridge, even if you're only printing black. If you never print color, a laser printer might be a better choice.
3. In your printer properties set the color to "black cartridge only" this will only work if your color cartridge is still registering (doesn't have to be full). However if you color cartridge being empty is resulting in a blinking amber light or error warning you will have to replace it.
