HP Store Online

Build it myself? or....?

Since I don't like the desktops from companies such as Dell, HP, and others, I was thinking of building a PC, but I don't know how to, so should I pay my local computer store to help me build, and I order the parts? Or should I build it? I will have to do some research T_T.

  1. Having someone else build a pc isn't much better than buying one from Dell. If you want to learn and do it yourself then build, otherwise buy one from Dell...
  2. its not very hard and there are hordes of howto sites and helpsites out there I think you can get the best quality parts for the same price
  3. Well, hiring a person from a company to do it is as bad as going to the manufacturer. HOWEVER, hiring, say, the local computer nerd and asking NICELY and saying you'll pay him for his troubles (anywhere from $10 to $50) WILL get you a decent computer built (provided YOU order the parts - we charge more if we have to get them ourselves.) Either find a CN, go buy from a store, or lean how to do it.
  4. Have your local computer store help you out. It's well worth it. You get what you want without all the BS and you save quite a bit of money. I build a $1000 computer for $700 which included absolutely EVERYTHING including an LCD screen!
  5. build it yourself. just go buy the parts and screw them together...it's really easy.. the instructions come with each part you buy...try it and make your self proud of an accomplishment
  6. If you have a friend that is tech savvy, I would just say to get him/her to do it for you, or I would suggest paying someone at the store, but you might have to buy the parts. What you could also do is to just buy an already built computer with a good motherboard and processor and just buy parts and replace them.
  7. I agree with the folks who said find a tech savvy friend, or even just get lessons off of the internet. I will say that building your own is better, as you can build a far superior machine for the same price as the companies are charging for their basic cookie-cutter computer.
  8. hahaha sounds like my problem... ok ok ... first of all do you have enough experience...becuase reading manuals wont always help..do you know about hardware and components ? do you know enough about COMPUTER and how to troubleshoot and correct the problem ?? second of all yeah i know its going to sound like a blast saying i built MY computer...yes it will be cheaper by a littler.. but who has you has your back if something goes wrong ? third..i personally went and customised mine at a website.. crazy computer i got..top of line..so for a little hundred bucks more not only do the people CORRECTLY asemble your pc and get it up and ready and run your pc for a test for 2 days (my company did) i got lifetime technical soppurt and 3 YEARS warranty and all parts...also i got a 30 day moneyback gaurrentee ...excludes shipping... to sum it up...just remember you get what you pay for.. and you might think pc building is easy but just wrong little cable in the wrong spot (pooff!!) its fried ! (i should know lol) well hope i helped
