in your opinion, what are the best digital cameras to use?

mine broke, so i can't use it and i'm looking to invest in a good quality camera. i've read up on websites, but i'm interested in hearing some of your opinions. i'm not spending over $1,000 though. haha. i have a canon powershot a630, and the quality of it is kind of crappy. obviously i didn't find it so good.

I'm sure it's not the only camera that would fit your needs, but I love-love-love my Canon Powershot SD450. It's very small, literally fits in the pocket (and gets lost in a large purse or backpack). I bought an extra large-capacity chip for it. It's about 3 years old, so there's probably a newer model out. Last year we vacationed in a place that demanded pictures, and I didn't fill the big chip--and I didn't need to recharge the camera's battery, either.
I have a HP m437. It is 2 years old and takes fabulous pictures. It is very compatible with my pc and laptop too. My gf has a Canon Powershot. Her camera does not take pictures as good as mine. Not sure why, the specs are similar, but it just doesn't. Her camera is a little troublesome with the pc as well. I would of thought that Canon would be better, but it is my experience that HP has great technology.(ah hem) It's difficult to answer you question not knowing your purpose of the camera, or your budget.
