how come people think every new driver gets in a accident?

Im only 19 and have a 1973 dodge charger with 350 hp and 385 ftlbs of torque and never got in accident with my first car (my charger) i dont get it why does everyone jump to conclusion that you will crash? I bought my own car and work froma ge 14-16 and saved 8000 dollars and bought the car for 4500 and fixed it up slowly (only interiour) i never have ahd a accident, and i will admit ive done my racing a few time but what kid hasnt? I drive responsibly and trustfully i also drive a jeep sometimes for my mopm (when she dont wanna leveave the house) And when im in my charger everyone freaks and gives me a look like i got 4 heads? I even was asked "why you driving such a nice car go buy a crappy toyota or sumthing?" by a man in a auto parts store. So let me ask you why do people say you will crash when you get a new car and i didnt my mom thinks its cuase i bought my car and worked hard on it and had more respect for it due to my hard work is this possible?

  1. The reason people say that is because statistics will back them up. Maybe you are a good driver. MAYBE you have been lucky.Maybe the fact you bought your own car you have more of a respect for your vehicle. For every one of YOU there are on the road there are 4 other new drivers having accidents.
  2. The insurance companies don't care what your name is or situation is, so you fit into a group that has poor driving characteristics historically. It's not personal but its like playing vegas...the odds are against you. Most of us that have been driving awhile admit to the fact that your youngest and your oldest drivers are at the highest risk for accidents.
  3. It's all about STATISTICS. Your age group which are teen drivers made a bad rap for themselves by being involved in too many accidents. It's not you personally you can blame the others in your age group that caused the bad statistics. By not caring about other drivers, speeding, tailgating, showing off, and much much more. Glad to hear that your doing your part to be safe. Keep it up and we mid ages and old folks really appreciate that.
