Can I refill the "starter cartridges" on a Lexmark C522 color laser printer?

I'm thinking about buying this printer, but the seller states the starter cartridges are almost empty. I saw refill kits on Ebay fairly reasonable, but the regular cartridges were too much dough. I'm hoping I can refill the starter cartridges. If you know that these can, or can not be refilled, please answer! :) Also, I see there is a "reset chip" available so the printer will know the cartridges are new again, but I also have read there is a process you can do with the printer without changing the "chip", and it will know the ink is full again. If you can shed some light on this as well, it is much appreciated! Thanks!! I still haven't seen a reply with the answer of "Is it possible to refill a starter cartridge". I know it may not be advisable, but there are companies all over town that refill them all day, every day. It's not advisable to talk on a cell phone and drive at the same time, but it's done daily by millions. I know I can go on Ebay to buy new cartridges. I stated that in my original question. If someone can answer the question "Is it possible to refill a starter cartridge", it would be much appreciated! Thanks!

  1. Refills can damage the printer and also void any warranty there might be. If the manufacturer's recommended cartridges are "too much dough", you cannot really afford to run a printer
  2. Just go to ebay and search for a compatible cartridge that fits your printer. Try to only buy from a top rated seller with excellent feedback. This is how I purchase my ink and it saves me a ton of dough! My cartridges (HP) costs $40/ea. On ebay I pay compatible for under $10/shipped. Just make sure to purchase from somone that is trusted (top rated, powerseller, or 100% Positive feedback. Check in there feedback history someone that has left them positive feedback for your cartridge. This will tell you for sure that it will work with your printer.
  3. There is more to refilling a toner cartridge than adding toner. The Toner cartridge is a highly mechanical device, in addition to adding toner you also need to replace the chip, electrostatic roller, and the gearing assembly. Failure to do so will result in the roller stalling or improperly charging. When this happens your printer will dump toner all in side your machine. As an added bonus toner powder is toxic and near impossible to clean up. The powder is fine enough to sneak through a HEPA vacuum filter and spit out the exhaust. To save money go with a factory refurbished toner cartridge - refilling one at home is not advisable
  4. there are lots of printer ink cartridges supplier online but be sure to to read reviews and to buy only quality ink cartridges here's the site I can recommend http://www.printcountry.com/
