- Yes, I would stay away from Acer.
- go HP, i did
- I have a HP desktop. One to consider is if Windows is loaded on the laptop versions(will show a D drive saying HP recovery in My computer) so you can do a destructive recovery and a non-destructive recovey(hit F10 on the boot). If it is I would definitly go with the HP.With the non-destructive you have to reload the programs(with serials) and resetup the machine but it's great if you have any problems or just want to clean things up.A destructive recovery will set it back to the day you got it WIPING OUT EVERYTHING(BE CAREFUL!!!!).Something to think about.
- yes, acer has had quite a bit of reputation about its rather shorter lifespan than others. HP laptops are actually more sturdy and beautiful, but they seem to be a bit more pricey than the acer in terms of money worth. Although acer uses cheaper components, they reduce the overall cost of the laptop as well, and the acer laptops will just have about the same time span of use as the other laptops as long as you're not rough with it and handle it like a "Portable Laptop", and not a "Portable armored thing" :P .
