I have a Hipro HP-D3057F3R Power Supply that went bad, looking for cheap replacement. I am also a CPU newb.?

I can find the OEM part but seems as if some of the cheaper power supplies should work..has anyone replaced this part with a cheaper model and had it work? I am seriously just looking for something that is cheap as I only plan on having this computer another 3-6 months.

  1. Cheap is why it went bad... Newegg/Power supplys... buying a PS that is good quality(has good reviews) and is 25% over the recomended minimum amount prolongs the life of the PS...there are more good brands than this but Antec...OCZ...Thermotake...Corsair... you might be able to use this also... http://educations.newegg.com/tool/psucalc/index.html
  2. If you read the first newegg review item, you will notice that the reviewer got tired of the power supplies going out and replaced them with another brand. so apparently this is not a problem? if it is truly an ATX style power supply, the -5V ( I think) pin is no longer used and is now not even connected to anything. [some companies like Dell rewired their power supplies' pinouts. in time past. check your wiring.] box kind of looks like standard ATX. note the wiring diagram for ATX. If you want a good replacement ATX power supply, I suggest a good weighty Antec. the last newegg link is a good replacement Antec power supply. it's heavy, meaning it usually was designed well. it is also 80 plus, which means it is 80+% efficient. you pay more for those, but it is worth it. you should be able to run a moderate video card on that thing, and I should hope it would last you a long time. If you want a power supply that will last you 7 years, get one from PC Power and cooling (they use a single rail, which is better for video cards).
