Need help deciding on which computer to get.?

Ok, need a little help here. ^^ I'm a student and plan to be for the next 3 or so years. I want a computer that will do all i need it to do for school purposes and be able to have fun with it at the same time. Below i've got the raw specs of everything i would like. I'm also getting one of the new hp mini computers with whichever one i get. Which of these two would be the best or better choice, in your opinion? __HP Pavillion Notebook dv6t__ •Genuine Windows Vista Home Premium with Service Pack 1 (64-bit) •Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo Processor P8800 (2.66 GHz, 3 MB L2 Cache, 1066MHz FSB) •4GB DDR2 System Memory (2 Dimm) •320GB 7200RPM SATA Hard Drive with HP ProtectSmart Hard Drive Protection •1GB ATI Radeon(TM) HD 4650 Graphics •16.0" diagonal High Definition HP Brightview Display (1366x768) •Lightscribe Blu-Ray ROM with SuperMulti DVD+/-R/RW Double Layer •Webcam + Fingerprint Reader •Wireless-G Card •No TV Tuner w/remote control •HP Color Matching Keyboard •12 Cell Lithium Ion Battery •No Modem •System Recovery DVD with Genuine Windows Vista Home Premium (64-bit) •Microsoft(R) Office Home and Student 2007 •Norton 360(TM) - 15 Months •Adobe(R) PhotoShop(R) Elements 7.0 •HP Home & Home Office Store in-box envelope --price: $1,824.99 after rebate-- __HP HDX16t Notebook__ •Genuine Windows Vista Home Premium with Service Pack 1 (64-bit) •Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo Processor P8800 (2.66 GHz, 3 MB L2 Cache, 1066MHz FSB) •4GB DDR2 System Memory (2 Dimm) •320GB 7200RPM SATA Hard Drive with HP ProtectSmart Hard Drive Protection •1GB Nvidia GeForce GT 130M •16.0" diagonal High Definition HP Ultra BrightView Infinity Display (1920x1080p) •Lightscribe Blu-Ray ROM with SuperMulti DVD+/-R/RW Double Layer •Webcam + Fingerprint Reader with HP Imprint Finish (Fluid) •Intel Next-Gen Wireless-N Mini-card with Bluetooth •No TV Tuner w/remote control •HP Color Matching Keyboard •12 Cell Lithium Ion Battery •System Recovery DVD with Genuine Windows Vista Home Premium (64-bit) •Microsoft(R) Office Home and Student 2007 •Norton 360(TM) - 15 Months •Adobe(R) PhotoShop(R) Elements 7.0 •HP Home & Home Office Store in-box envelope --price: $1,749.99 after rebate--

  1. Probably overkill. Extended warranty? Will you need a printer? How will you back up your data? Does it include a travel bag? You might also consider laptop insurance. It should cover accidental damage, theft, liquid spills, fire, etc. http://www.laptopcomputerinsurance.com/laptop-insurance/guide-to-laptop-insurance/ http://www.wisegeek.com/what-should-i-consider-when-buying-laptop-insurance.htm http://www.wisegeek.com/what-is-laptop-insurance.htm If you buy insurance through HP make sure it covers accidental damage and theft. A lot of insurance companies will allow adding a rider for laptop insurance to your home insurance policy. Many schools offer a laptop insurance policy. Some plans I found on the internet, no experience with any. http://www.statefarm.com/insurance/other/personal.asp http://www.laptopinsurance.org.uk/ For $2000 Insurance http://www.studentinsurancepartners.com/sip/coverage $60/year 100deductable $65/year 50ded. $70/year 25 ded. Site below seems identical to above site except for price. http://www.nssi.com/nssi/coverage $50/year 100deductable $55/year 50ded. $60/year 25 ded.
