On an HP deskjet D730, does it print super slower when the supply of ink is low?

I think it's trying to really make the most out of every single drop of ink in the cartridge. Is it wrong to think this or is this the reason? I hope you can help. I'm worried it might be broken. :)

  1. No. A print of this Y/A page would print much slower than a simple page of text you had typed yourself irrespective of how much ink you had. Printing speed depends on what you are printing. If I'm printing a complicated image, I can go out the back door for a cigarette during the time it takes to print out the one image
  2. I think it might be broken. I haven't heard of this happening as an HP cartridge runs out. I would caution you against using an ink cartridge that you think is close to being empty though.
